Terrain and exposure
This is a moderate Twin Range hike. Expect gentle grades along Gale River with rocky/rooty sections, small stream crossings and rock staircases near the hut. Scrambling includes no. Upper-mountain terrain includes mixed hardwood at lower elevations transitioning to dense spruce–fir forest near the hut and summit and wooded summit with a nearby outlook that offers partial views toward the Pemigewasset Wilderness.
